FX Networks has upped television executive Kate Lambert to the post of senior vice president of series development and animation, Variety has learned.

Lambert’s promotion comes as FX is emphasizing an expansion in animated programming, highlighted by FX boss John Landgraf‘s announcement this summer at the Television Critics Association that FXX will be moving “really aggressively” into more animated series and short-form series in the adult animation format.

In the new role, Lambert — who developed and oversees the critically-acclaimed and Emmy winning animated comedy “Archer” — will head development of animated original series and short-form animated programs for FX and FXX. She will also continue to develop live-action series for both networks.

“From ‘Archer’ to ‘Atlanta,’ Kate has done an extraordinary job of developing some of FX’s signature shows and we are thrilled she will be taking an even greater role in guiding the networks’ programming,” said Eric Schrier and Nick Grad, presidents of original programming for FX Networks and FX Productions. “Kate is among the best in the business at forming relationships with the most sought-after producers, writers and talent, and this will be invaluable as we continue to build on FX Networks’ slate of acclaimed and award-winning live-action and animated series.”

“Aside from her extensive work on “Archer,” Lambert was instrumental in the launch of Donald Glover’s “Atlanta,” which was recently renewed for a second season. During her time at FX, she’s been involved in pilot development for “The Americans,” “Sons of Anarchy,” “The Strain,” “Justified,” “American Horror Story,” “The League,” “Wilfred” and “Louie.”

Prior to joining FX, Lambert worked at HBO and CAA. She graduated from USC with degrees in broadcast journalism and cinema/television.
