The annual Asian Animation Summit will this year relocate to Brisbane, Australia. To be held Nov. 22-24 it will coincide with the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (Nov. 24) and the opening night of the Brisbane Asia Pacific Film Festival (Nov. 23 – Dec. 4.)
The event will see presentations from 24 new audio-visual projects from Australia, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand and elsewhere in the Asia Pacific looking for financing and partners. The summit is expected to attract 200 film practitioners.
The 2016 summit is an initiative of KOCCA (Korea), MDeC (Malaysia) and SIPA/DITP (Thailand), AAS 2016 is owned and produced by Kidscreen, and supported by Screen Queensland and Brisbane Marketing. Previous editions of AAS were held in Kuala Lumpur, Phuket, Hanoi and Jeju Island.
AAS will be joined in Brisbane by another film industry event – the CILECT (The International Association of Film and Television Schools) Congress, involving audio-visual education institution representatives from around the world.
“The awards will provide the perfect opportunity for the conference delegates and APSA guests and nominees to collaborate on a scale the film industry hasn’t seen in Australia before,” said APSA chair Michael Hawkins. “In our 10th edition of APSA, we are delighted to showcase the creativity of our neighboring cultures in the vast Asia Pacific region to an international audience of some 500 leading film practitioners.” Read more…..
